The Persistence of Vision Raytracer (POV-Ray) is a widely used tool for rendering complex three dimensional images. MESH-Technologies has wrapped POV-Ray so that renderings can be parallellized using OfficeGRID. This is done by splitting the image to be rendered into a number of parts, which can be rendered by different machines in the grid. The animation to the right illustrates this.

This splitting of the rendering is very efficient and can achieve linear speed up. To illustrate this we have created a movie comparing the normal sequential POV-Ray program rendering an image with a rendering of the same image done with OfficeGRID POV-Ray on a Linux cluster with 16 single cpu nodes.
